David Squire is the renowned author of over fifty books on gardening. Alongside an immense practical knowledge of the subject, he has a special interest in plant folklore and garden history, which he combines in this title. He studied botany and horticulture at the Hertfordshire College of Horticulture and at the Royal Horticultural Society's Garden at Wisley, where he gained the Wisley Diploma in Horticulture.
