A guidebook covering national parks, reserves and tourist sites for scholars and tourists alike. It provides information on mammal's habits, behaviour, their relationship with human development and their future survival which is being threatened by turning natural habitats into arable land.
This is a guidebook to the mammals of East and Central Africa aimed at scholars and tourists as well as governments concerned in determining quickly and accurately the field status of those species covered. It provides notes on and illustrations of each species including information on their habits, behaviour and how that affects their future survival. Their conservation is considered, particularly in view of the conversion of large amounts of natural habitats into arable land for human food production. The guide may therefore serve as a tool in bringing to light the fact that hard decisions need to be made by the various States to enter into active partnerships with land owners who accommodate large numbers of the mammals dealt with in the guide. It is hoped that visitors to the national parks and reserves covered will find their safaris more interesting and rewarding and play a role in the promotion of this conservation message.
