James D Fair is a freelance wildlife journalist. For 18 years, he was a writer and commissioning editor for BBC Wildlife Magazine, but he now writes for a broader range of publications, including BBC Wildlife and BBC Countryfile, and a number of environmental news websites. Having previously worked in Bolivia, where he became a mother to an orphaned Andean bear cub, he now inhabits rural Gloucestershire with his partner, two children and a black cat.
