Jamie Owen was born and brought up in Pembrokeshire and spent many summer holidays in his childhood visiting the islands off the Pembrokeshire coast. Since then , he has sailed in many parts of the world. He trained as a journalist at Cardiff University and went on to become one of the best known faces in Wales, presenting the nightly programme, Wales Today. He also has a popular daily radio programme on BBC Radio Wales.
The six islands visited by Jamie and the film crew are Lundy, Caldey, Skomer, Ramsey, Bardsey and Anglesey. Through storm and sunshine, they sail on a hundred-year old British Channel cutter to meet the people of the islands - fishermen, wardens, innkeepers and monks. Jamie shares some of the notable incidents in the history of the islands, interviews artists and relishes the range of landscape and atmosphere as he moves from island to island.
