In 2011 Tony Martin and his team became the first people to drive across Antarctica at its widest point and back again. Antarctica: A War Without Bullets is Tony's diary of that journey: a unique account of travelling through a landscape most will never see.
One hundred years after Scott and Amundsen's Antarctic expeditions, Tony Martin and his team became the first people to drive across Antarctica at its widest point and back again. Antarctica, a war without bullets is Tony's diary of that journey; a unique account of travelling through a landscape most will never see. He makes a comparison with polar exploration 100 ago years since the historic events that took place in Antarctica with Scott and Amundsen and in the empty, beautiful desert of Antarctica Tony records his personal take on issues affecting exploration and reflects on existence and memories from a life lived permanently at extremes.

Tony Martin trained whilst a teenager to be a chef at military college. Fourteen years later he left the army as a Royal Engineer Commando specialising in Arctic Warfare and Bomb Disposal. He is an experienced Arctic survival trainer and has taken part in expeditions in the Sahara, Outer Mongolia, the jungles of Belize, the Aturi Rain Forests in the Congo Basin and many other expeditions to the World's most remote locations. Tony and his brother set up the company that is now Extreme Word Races and their unique experience and ability to stretch the limits of engineering, film logistics and the concept of travel in polar regions has led to several successful TV programmes including " Polar Challenge the series", "Top Gear", "On Thin Ice" and Helen Skelton's journey to the South Pole for BBC's "Blue Peter" in January 2012 for UK Charity Sport Relief.
