Iceland has never been so hot. Let "The Rough Guide to Iceland" show you the very best this unspoilt country has to offer: from the party capital, Reykjavik, with its white nights and northern lights, to the vast glaciers of the uninhabited interior. Come eye to eye with the giants of the sea on a whale watching tour or take a dip in the geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon - Iceland is Europe's most unusual destination. "The Rough Guide to Iceland" includes full colour pictures to inspire your travels through this vivid country of lavafields and bubbling mudpools, detailed maps to help you on your way and expert background on everything from smorgasbords to sagas. With "The Rough Guide to Iceland" in your hand, you'll soon realise that Iceland offers superb value for money following the currency crash of 2008 and is just waiting to be discovered. Make the most of your time with "The Rough Guide to Iceland".
David Leffman is a travel writer and photographer. He is the author of Top 10 Iceland and Eyewitness China for DK, and has written guidebooks to Iceland, Australia, Indonesia, China, and Hong Kong for Rough Guides. He has also led specialist guided tours to China. James Proctor has been with Rough Guides since 1995, and is the company's original Nanook of the North. Coauthor of the Rough Guides to Sweden, Iceland, and Finland, he has also written the only English-language guides to the Faroe Islands and Lapland. One of his more obscure talents is speaking fluent Swedish--something that never fails to impress and bemuse Swedes (and most other people) he meets. Having lived and worked in Stockholm during the mid-1990s as the BBC's Scandinavia correspondent, James now returns to Sweden at frequent intervals to commune with nature at his log cabin deep in the forest.
