Jørgen Kristiansen, Associate Professor (Emeritus) at the Section of Phycology, Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen has studied chrysophyte algae in many parts of the world. He has given lectures and courses on chrysophytes on several universities, congresses and symposia, and is author or co-author of about 200 publications, including several books. Hans Rudolf Preisig is Professor at the Institute of Systematic Botany, University of Zürich. His research interests include different groups of algae including cyanobacteria and colourless groups of protists related to algae. He is author and editor of numerous publications and is currently working, in collaboration with Jørgen Kristiansen, on a new edition of vol. 1, part 1, of the "Freshwater Flora of Central Europe" on Chrysophyceae and Haptophyceae. A previous joint publication by both authors is the "Encyclopedia of Chrysophyte Genera" (Bibliotheca Phycologica, vol. 110).
