This book is an introduction to freshwater fish ecology. The book covers the process of planning and conducting fish surveys in freshwater, describes the available practical methods for sampling and analysing, and provides some examples of statistical treatments, with considerations and conclusions based on these. It will be of interest to bachelor's and master's students of fish biology and management, libraries, and laboratories of fish/wildlife management services and research.
Arne Nils Linløkken is an associate professor emeritus at the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences. He earned his MSc in Freshwater Biology at the University of Oslo, Norway, in 1985, and worked on fisheries management issues at the Hedmark County Environmental Administration Department before he was employed at Hedmark College, both in Norway, where he has taught undergraduate and master's students on the subjects of general ecology and fish ecology and management. Linløkken earned his PhD at Karlstad University, Sweden, in 2008, with a dissertation titled 'Population Ecology of Perch (Perca fluviatilis) in Boreal Lakes.'
