There is a growing interest in applying the UN's sustainable development goals to a variety of sectors. One can use certain principles of green chemistry in the emerging fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The green chemistry approach focuses on the creation of nanodimensional materials that have a low environmental impact, are cost-effective, and have no negative consequences on the environment. This book aims to summarise the different alternative green chemical routes. Furthermore, the book describes the use of nano-dimensional materials for sustainable energy generation and environmental remediation applications.

Dr. Sathish-Kumar Kamaraj is a Senior Research Professor at IPN-CICATA, Unidad Altamira, Mexico. He earned his Doctorate in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2010–2014) from CINVESTAV-IPN, Mexico, supported by SEP-Mexico. He received Best Student Competition Award (2013) and the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award from the Mexican Hydrogen Society. His research focuses on sustainable energy, environment, and health solutions, resulting in multiple patents and industry collaborations. He also mentors the University of Cambridge’s ReachSci Program. Dr. Arun Thirumurugan is an Assistant Professor at the University of ATACAMA, Vallenar, Chile. He completed his Ph.D. at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India (2010–2015). He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar, India (2015–2017), and a FONDECYT postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chile, Santiago (2017–2020). His research interests include synthesizing and surface modification of nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications. Dr. Shanmuga Sundar Dhanabalan leads the ‘Wearable and Connected Sensors’ team at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. His research covers materials, sensors, flexible devices, wearables, optics, and photonics. He won the ARC Industry Fellowship 2024 and is the chief investigator for three active grants in wearable and flexible electronics. Collaborations have generated over $4.1M. He has delivered over 20 invited talks, serves as a guest editor for major journals, and is a Senior Member of IEEE. Dr. Suresh K. Verma is a scientist at KIIT, focusing on materials science and biotechnology. He completed postdoctoral studies at Karolinska Institute and Uppsala University in Sweden. A member of the EU Horizon 2020 Graphene Flagship project, he received the Carl Trygger fellowship. He serves as an associate editor and reviewer for major journals and joined the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2023. He coordinates the Zebrafish research and Advanced Imaging facilities at KIIT. Dr. Shanavas Shajahan is with the Pilot Scale Manufacturing Lab and RIC-2D at Khalifa University, UAE. His work focuses on producing graphene and related materials for commercialization, collaborating with industries in Asia, Europe, and North America. His research impacts energy, environment, and aerospace, including developing 2D materials for the Rashid Rover – 2, Emirates Lunar Program. He is an MRS and Graphene Council member and a scientific reviewer for major publishers.
