Pipeline Inspection and Health Monitoring Technology
Springer Verlag, Singapore

This book includes six chapters aiming to introduce global pipeline inspection and health monitoring technologies comprehensively. The pipeline is the blood vessel of the energy system and a vital lifeline project. After many years of service, the pipeline gradually enters the aging stage. Pipeline inspection and health monitoring can effectively reduce the failure and accident risks of the pipeline, and it is conducive to integrity management. Through case analysis, practitioners can have a deeper understanding of the application of related technologies.
Dr. Hongfang Lu is an associate professor at Southeast University. He has over ten years of experience in trenchless repair, health monitoring, and evaluation of underground pipelines. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Southwest Petroleum University in 2013 and 2016, respectively, and a doctor's degree from Louisiana Tech University in 2020. He has published more than 40 academic papers in journals such as J. Pipeline Syst. Eng.-ASCE and J. Perform. Constr. Fac.-ASCE, and four papers are included in the ESI Highly Cited Papers. He currently chairs three projects related to trenchless repair and assessment of pipelines. Dr. Lu served as the Chair of Oil and Gas Committee of BAMI-I (Buried Asset Management Institute-International). He served as a young editorial board member in Natural Gas Industry (1000-0976) and Oil & Gas Storage and Transportation (ISSN: 1000-8241). He also served as a committee member of the Youth Work Department of the Petroleum Storage& Transportation Committee of Chinese Petroleum Society. In 2018 and 2020, he received the NASSCO Jeffrey D. Ralston Memorial Scholarship. In 2020, he was selected as a "Star of the Youth" of the Chinese Society for Trenchless Technology (CSTT). In 2021, he won the first prize in the innovation and entrepreneurship competition (field of new materials) of Jiangsu Province. Dr. Zhao-Dong Xu is a professor at Southeast University, a national outstanding youth, and a Changjiang scholar. He has long been engaged in research on structural seismic and multi-hazard coupling disaster prevention, structural vibration control and safety monitoring, big data processing, and disaster deduction. He has published more than 300 papers in international authoritative journals. He has published five monographs and 140 patents. He served as a fellow of the International Society for Disaster Prevention and Control, an executive director of the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering, the director of the Structural Dynamics Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering, and the deputy director of the Engineering and Technology Committee of the National Science and Technology Innovation Alliance. Dr. Tom Iseley is a professor at Purdue University. He has over 40 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of underground infrastructure systems. From 1982, he served on the faculty of Mississippi State University, Purdue University, Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, and Louisiana Tech University. During the past 40 years, he has maintained an international leadership position in trenchless technology. In April 2015, Dr. Iseley was selected as a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) for his eminence in pipeline engineering, becoming just one of only 637 Distinguished Members ever selected by the ASCE. He was also selected as the 2016 UCTA MVP (Most Valuable Professional) by the Underground Construction Technology Association (UCTA) and Underground Construction magazine. Dr. Iseley was inducted into the 2017 NASTT Hall of Fame. He received the Centre for Advancement of Trenchless Technologies (CATT) Award of Excellence on October 9, 2019. Haoyan Peng is a master student of Southeast University. He graduated from Hefei University of Technology in 2021. After entering Southeast University, he engaged in research on pipeline health monitoring and machine learning. He has published papers in international authoritative journals. Lingdi Fu is an engineer of PetroChina Southwest Oil & Gasfield Company. She graduated from Southwest Petroleum University with a master's degree at 2018. In recent years, she has engaged in research related to oil and gas storage and transportation engineering, safety engineering, and pipeline mechanics. She has participated in more than ten provincial and ministerial scientific research projects and published 12 articles in authoritative journals.
