The book introduces readers to the basic principle of optical imaging technologies. Focusing on human disease diagnostics using optical imaging methods, it provides essential information for researchers in various fields and discusses the latest trends in optical imaging. In recent decades, there has been a huge increase in imaging technologies and their applications in human diseases diagnostics, including magnetic resonance imaging, x-ray computed tomography, and nuclear tomographic imaging. This book promotes further developments to extend optical imaging to a wider range of disease diagnostics. It is a valuable resource for researchers and students in the field of biomedical optics, as well as for clinicians.

Prof. Xunbin Wei received his Ph.D. degree in Physiology & Biophysics from the University of California, Irvine in 1999. He completed his post-doctoral training with Prof. David Clapham at the Childrens Hospital at Harvard Medical School. From 2001-2005, Dr. Wei was a faculty member at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital. From 2006-2010, he was a Professor and Deputy Director of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Fudan University. Currently, he is a Distinguished Professor at the Med-X Research Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He has published more than 70 papers in the area of optical techniques for studying cancer and immune system in leading journals such as Nature and PNAS. In addition, Dr. Wei holds 10 patents and one Chinese FDA approval for medical device. Prof. Bobo Gu received his Ph.D. degree in Optical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2012. After postdoctoral training at the Nanyang Technological University, he joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2017, where he is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on the design and synthesis of optical nanomaterials and exploration of their applications in sensing, imaging, and therapy. He has authored or coauthored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and 3 patents.
