This timely book presents comprehensively the most important and latest developments in asymmetric organocatalysis. Focussing on new directions, reactions, and catalysts, it is an indispensable source for everyone working in this highly vivid research field.

Lukasz Albrecht was born in Lódz, Poland. He obtained his M.Sc. degree (2004), Ph.D. (2009) and habilitation (2015) from the Lodz University of Technology, Poland. He was appointed a full professor in 2019. In 2009-2012 he stayed as a postdoctoral researcher with Professor Karl Anker Jørgensen at the Center for Catalysis, Aarhus University, Denmark working on new applications of asymmetric organocatalysis. Since 2013 he is a group leader at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Lodz University of Technology, Poland. His research deals with the synthesis and utilization of organic chiral organic catalysts. His group works on their design and structural modifications as well as aims at the identification of their new applications in the synthesis of biologically relevant molecules. Anna Albrecht was born in Bilgoraj, Poland. She received her M.Sc. in 2004 from Lodz University of Technology, Poland. In 2009 she completed her Ph.D. thesis on applications of Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reagents for the synthesis of biologically relevant heterocycles at the same University under supervision of Professor Tomasz Janecki. After a postdoctoral stay with Professor Karl Anker Jørgensen at the Center for Catalysis, Aarhus University, Denmark she returned to Lodz University of Technology, Poland. In 2020 she accomplished her habilitation working on the development of new, decarboxylative synthetic strategies.Luca Dell'Amico was born in Carrara, Italy, north of Tuscany. He started his studies in Parma, Italy. In 2010, he completed his M.Sc. in Medicinal Chemistry at the Parma University under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Casiraghi, working on the development of novel eco-friendly vinylogous methods. Fascinated by synthetic chemistry, in the same year he started his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Franca Zanardi. In 2013, he spent a ten-months research period at the Center for Catalysis of Århus Univesity, Denmark, where he was introduced to the field of organocatalysis by Prof. Karl Anker Jørgensen. Luca completed his PhD with highest honours and the Doctor Europaeus mention at the Parma University in 2014. Shortly after, he moved to the ICIQ, Tarragona, Catalunya, joining the group of Prof. Paolo Melchiorre as a Marie-Curie cofund fellow. In the end of 2016 he started his independent career at the Padova University as an assistant professor (tenure track). His current research spans from the development of stereoselective photochemical processes to the investigation of novel organocatalytic methods using renewables.
