Alfredo Ricci is professor emeritus and visiting scientist at the Department of Industrial Chemistry "Toso Montanari" at Bologna University, Italy. He has authored more than 300 scientific publications and received several awards, including the "French-Italian Prize for Organic Synthesis", the Merck-ADP Grants for Training of Younger Scientists, and the nomination as Fellow of the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JPS). He served as editor of the Wiley-VCH books "Modern Amination Methods" (2001) and "Amino Group Chemistry" (2007). Luca Bernardi is associate professor at the Department of Industrial Chemistry "Toso Montanari" at Bologna University, Italy. He is co-author of about 80 articles, two patents and four book chapters. He received the "Thieme Journal Prize" in 2009 and the Ciamician Medal of the Organic Chemistry Division in 2010. His research is mainly directed at the development of new catalytic enantioselective reactions.
