Navid Omidbakhsh is the vice president of Open Innovation and Intellectual Property at Virox Technologies, Oakville, Canada. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Sahand University of Technology, Tabriz, Iran, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Waterloo University, Canada. Prior joining to Virox, he has served in research & development department for Henkel for 4 years, and he has been with Virox for over 8 years. He has contributed in a few inventions patented worldwide and has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. Dr. Keyvan Nowruzi is a Post-Doctoral fellow at the University of Guelph, Canada. He has a B.S. in chemical engineering from Sahand University of Technology, Tabriz, Iran, a M.Sc in chemical engineering from Tehran Polytechnic University, and a PhD in biochemical engineering from University of Waterloo, Canada. Dr. Nowruzi has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. Ali Elkamel is a professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo. He holds a B.S. in Chemical and Petroleum Refining Engineering and a B.S. in Mathematics from Colorado School of Mines, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado-Boulder, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University. His specific research interests are in computer-aided modeling, optimization, and simulation with applications to the petroleum and petrochemical industry. Prior to joining the University of Waterloo, he served at Purdue University (Indiana), P&G (Italy), Kuwait University, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He taught also various short courses to industry including optimization and cost awareness, quantitative decision making, computer-aided problem solving, refinery economics and planning, and practical process engineering. He has contributed more than 200 publications in refereed journals and international conference proceedings and serves on the editorial board of several journals including the International Journal of Process Systems Engineering, Engineering Optimization, Int. J. Oil, Gas, Coal Technology, and the Open Fuels & Energy Science Journal. Thomas Deuver is Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada. His research interests bring together engineering and applied statistics.
