Dr. Ana M. Rule is a Research Scientist and faculty member in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she obtained both her Master of Health Sciences in Industrial Hygiene and her Ph.D in Environmental Health Sciences. Dr Rule currently directs the Exposure Assessment Laboratory. Throughout her research career she has focused on methods and measurements for assessing human exposure to airborne contaminants in the community and work environments. She has been involved in several studies evaluating human exposure to nicotine, metals, particulate matter and biological aerosols. She has led projects in occupational and community settings. She has also conducted laboratory-based studies where controlled experiments are used to better understand and refine sampling methods. Dr. Rule is currently interested in research to recognize the scale and evaluate the complexity involved in the assessment of exposure to electronic cigarettes.
