This book provides a practical description of the technology of pellet production on the basis of renewable sources as well as the utilization of pellets. The author explains what kinds of biomass are usable in addition to wood, how to produce pellets and how to use pellets to produce energy. Starting with the basics of combustion, gasification and the pelletizing process, several different technologies are described. The design, planning, construction and economic efficiency are discussed as well. The appendix gives useful advice about plant concepts, calculations, addresses, conversion tables and formulas.

Dr.-Ing. Stefan Döring is the sole proprietor of Plant Engineering GmbH. He completed his studies of mechanical engineering with an emphasis on the area of energy technology at the RWTH Aachen in 1996. He also completed his doctorate degree in the area of energy technology at the RWTH Aachen. From November 1998 to December 2005, Stefan Döring was first plant engineer at Mann Energie and after a successful implementation was given his own energy technology projects which partially were awarded prizes, in 2002 proxy. During his career work, Stefan Döring was among other things the project manager with the construction of various heating and cogeneration power stations. In 2001, he was in charge of the installation of what was until then the largest pellet facility in Germany and was subsequently responsible for the operation thereof. This gave him practical experience in cogeneration power technology, in raw materials management, in pellet manufacturing and pellet applications. In January 2006, with his previous employer he founded Mann Engineering GmbH since he wanted to concentrate on the previous operation of the facility through engineering. Each partner held 50% of the shares. Mann Engineering GmbH successfully implemented numerous projects domestically and abroad. Between 2006 and 2008, the company's personnel has continued to develop. In December 2008, Stefan Döring took over 100% of the shares and changed the name of the company from Mann Engineering GmbH to Plant Engineering GmbH.
