Nanotechnology has attracted billions in venture capital from research institutes, governments, and industries in recent years. Traditional nanofabrication techniques, such as CVD, sol-gel, and self-assembly, have been intensively studied. However, the electrochemical nanofabrication technique, which offers huge benefits for manufacturing nanomaterials as well as broad applications in industries has not been paid much attention compare with the traditional nanofabrication methods. This book fits that niche. It summarizes different electrochemical nanofabrication methods and shows various essential applications in areas such as batteries, sensors, and many future applications.

Di Wei is a senior research scientist at the Nokia Research Centre, c/o Nanoscience Centre, University of Cambridge. He received his bachelor’s in science from University of Science and Technology of China and obtained his master’s degree and Ph.D. with distinctions from Process Chemistry Centre of Finland c/o Abo Akademi University. He joined University of Cambridge in 2007 as research associate and then Nokia Research Centre Cambridge in 2008. Wei is a member of Cambridge Network and ISE (International Society of Electrochemistry). He was awarded the first Prize for Nokia Innovation and Excellence Award (NIEA) 2009 in R&D at global level and Electrochimica Acta Travel Award for Young Electrochemists 2008. His research interest covers organic electronics, sensors, electrochemical nanofabrication, and nano-enabled energy solutions such as photovoltaics, fuel cells, supercapacitors, and batteries. In addition to contributing peer-reviewed publications, Wei has also written chapters for two books on nanotechnology. He also owns several patents.
