This simple paperback teaches electrocardiography from a pathophysiologic basis. The book is small in format, concise, and can be utilized as a reference - chapter by chapter or read throughout. Ten case studies are highlighted at the end of the book.
Over the last decade, there has been a tremendous improvement in our understanding of basic cardiac electrophysiology. Most introductory ECG books teach via pattern recognition and do not incorporate new pathophysiologic information.

There is a great need for a simple book that teaches electrocardiography from a pathophysiologic basis. The proposed paperback book will be small format, concise, and 200-pages in length. It can be utilized as a reference - chapter by chapter or read throughout for an overview. Each chapter will feature ten questions that will provide a chapter review. Ten case studies will be highlighted at the end of the book that will integrate the multiple principles of electrocardiography.

I: Basic electrophysiology and electrocardiography.- Cardiac anatomy and electrophysiology.- Physics of electrocardiography.- The normal electrocardiogram.- II: Abnormal depolarization.- Chamber enlargement.- Conduction abnormalities in the His-Purkinje tissue.- III: Abnormal repolarization.- Ventricular repolarization: T waves and U waves.- ST segment elevation and other ECG findings in myocardial infarction.- ST segment elevation not associated with myocardial infarction.- IV: Arrhythmias.- Premature beats.- Bradycardia.- Supraventricular tachycardia.- Wide complex tachycardia.- Pacemakers.- V: “Putting it all together”.- Analyzing ECGs: Methods, techniques, and identifying abnormalities.- Analyzing ECGs: Putting it together with case studies.- Electrolyte disorders.- Orphans.
