Carlo Caffarelli runs the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Center of the Pediatric Department at Pediatric Hospital in Parma, Italy, He is Associate Professor in Pediatrics at the University of Parma, Italy, with qualification as Full Professor. He specialized in Pediatrics as well as in Allergy and Clinical Immunology, being awarded 4 scholarship sand spending further training in clinical and research fields at The Hospitals for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, London, Great Britain, and St. Thomas's Hospital, London, Great Britain. He had been Director of the Post Graduate Course in Pediatrics at the University of Parma and member of the Board of Italian Society of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology. He is Senior Editor of the Italian Journal of Pediatrics. His research interests are mainly directed to the field of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology. He has continuously dedicated himself to food allergy, the prevention of atopy, allergic respiratory diseases (such as asthma and allergic rhinitis), skin diseases (such as atopic eczema and urticaria) and anaphylaxis. He has also cultivated with particular care the studies on pediatric diseases in general, on immunodeficiencies, on childhood secretory otitis media. Prof. Caffarelli has published over 295 scientific articles, 290 abstracts of communications or reports, 45 chapters of books or volumes.
Gian Luigi Marseglia is Full Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pavia, Director of the Pediatric Clinic of the the Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo and Director of the School of Specialization in Paediatrics at the University of Pavia.
After graduating with honors from Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Pavia in 1980, he specialized in Pediatrics at the University of Pavia and subsequently in Allergology and Clinical Immunology, in Physiopathology and Respiratory Physiokinesitherapy and in Infectious Diseases. From 1983 to 1985 he was Assistant Visiting Professor at the Claude Bernard University of Lyon under the guidance of Professor Jean Louis Touraine.
Nowadays, Prof. Marseglia is President of the Board of Directors of the Specialization Schools in Paediatrics, He is also a member of the Board of Professors of the PhD Program in Biomedical Sciences of the University of Pavia and is the coordinator of the Master in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology of the same University.
He served as the President of the Italian Society of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology for the four-year period 2019-2023. His scientific activity is documented by more than 650 papers in international journals.
