This book is an inclusive collection of topics on research on UVB for its impact on plants with a focus on its use as an emerging technology for crop growth and protection. This book covers role of UV-B on biological systems, and its transformation from generic stressor to specific regulator.  It also explores the past research in UVB studies and the changing mind-sets regarding UV-B in recent time with respect to the plant growth. It also explores the discovery of specific UV-B photoreceptor, UVR8  and UVR8 mediated plants responses.

This book is of interest to teachers, researchers, agriculture scientists and plant physiologists. Also the book serves as additional reading material for undergraduate and graduate students of agriculture, forestry, ecology, soil science, and environmental sciences

Dr. Sunita Kataria is working as women scientist in DST WOS-A Scheme in School of Biochemistry, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. She has authored 58 papers in reputed international journals and 16 book chapters. Her H-index is 26; i10-index is 42 and has been serving as editor and reviewer of reputed international journals. Her area of research interest is management of UV-B stress in plants using physiological, biochemical and molecular approach with emphasis on antioxidant defence system, photosynthetic performance, nitrogen metabolism, reactive oxygen (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO) signalling and yield attributes. She has also worked on the alleviation of adverse effects of UV-B stress via exclusion of UV-B radiation from solar spectrum and magnetopriming of seeds in various crop plants. She has also identified the role of ROS NO and growth hormones in the signal transduction of magnetic field pre-treatment under abiotic stresses such as salt, water, heavy metal toxicity and UV-B stress. Dr. Vijay Pratap Singh is working as an Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, C.M.P. Post Graduate College, University of Allahabad, India. Dr. Singh has obtained his D.Phil. degree from University of Allahabad. He has authored 160 publications including book chapters and editorials in reputed journals. He has edited several books with Elsevier, Wiley, CRC Press, Nova Publisher, Studium Press, etc. His area of research interest is regulation of abiotic stress in plants with special emphasis on nitric oxide, hydrogen sulfide, reactive oxygen species and phytohormonal signaling. Dr. Singh is also serving as editor and reviewer of reputed international journals.
