This book uses real-world clinical case analyses of hot topics to provide insights into noninvasive mechanical ventilation (NIV).

Written by leading international teachers and experts, it features a selection of "major controversial topics in clinical practice" and demonstrates how these cases can be used to teach about NIV.  It then presents a discussion of the topics in various scenarios (anesthesiology, critical care, emergency, pneumology and sleep medicine, as well). The chapters allow readers to develop a case-by-case understanding of NIV in acute and chronic respiratory disorders, and perioperative and in intensive care patients, also thanks to Electronic Supplementary Materials. Lastly the authors summarize five key points / recommendations. This book is an attractive resource also for universities / educational seminars / national and international postgraduate courses and hot-topics sessions at national/international congresses.

Dr. Antonio M. Esquinas is an intensive care physician in the Intensive Care Unit of Hospital Morales Meseguer, Murcia, Spain. He is an active member and international Fellow of the American Association Respiratory Care (AARC), Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. (ACCP) and president International Association of Non Invasive Mechanical ventilation. His main research activities include noninvasive mechanical ventilation in critical care and pulmonary medicine, weaning from mechanical ventilation, humidification and airway clearance in mechanically ventilated critically ill patients. Dr. Antonio M. Esquinas is director educational coordinator of various international working groups and research activities on noninvasive mechanical ventilation.   Director of International College of Non Invasive mechanical ventilation, Academic Non Invasive Mechanical Ventilation and the International Fellow Non Invasive Ventilation program to promote excellence in clinical practice in research and education. He is  active professor involved in teaching respiratory medicine and has been a director in schools of noninvasive mechanical ventilation in  Europe, Latin America , USA, India and Saudi Arabic. His publications (430 articles indexed and edited 49 books) are related to practice of noninvasive mechanical ventilation (weaning mechanical ventilation, COPD exacerbation) , and hypoxemic respiratory failure
