Echocardiography provides all the information you need on acho acquisition, interpretation, and reporting. It has a companion website with over 150 videos to aid understanding, and also follows international accreditation guidelines.
Fully updated for its third edition, Echocardiography provides all of the essential information you need on echo acquisition, interpretation, and reporting in an easily-readable and concise format. Featuring over 400 full colour images, this resource also comes with online access to 155 video clips to clarify complex issues, making it an invaluable guide for both the experienced and trainee cardiologist who performs echocardiography as part of their practice.

Designed to align to international guidelines and help trainees undergoing accreditation or certification, including the BSE, EACVI, and ASE requirements, this handbook bridges the gap between entry-level texts and large textbooks, and is compact enough to carry around in clinical settings. It covers all echocardiography modalities, from acute echocardiography to transoesophageal and stress imaging. The third edition includes a simplified approach to the physics of ultrasound, a brand new chapter on interventional echocardiography, and a streamlined navigation between basic and advanced techniques. The sections on diastolic function, heart failure, and congenital heart disease have been expanded, and over 100 new illustrations, images, and schematic diagrams have been added to simplify images and anatomy for the reader.

Paul Leeson is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford and Head of the Oxford Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility. He is also a Consultant Cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital, where he provides expertise in cardiovascular imaging and hypertension. He has pioneered the use of novel imaging approaches in preventive cardiology research and works on some of the largest imaging studies in the world. In 2007 he edited the first Oxford Specialist Handbook in Cardiology and, since then, has worked on a range of cardiology books for Oxford University Press. Cristiana Monteiro is a Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist and Deputy Lead of Echocardiography and Physiology Services of the Oxford Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility. She is EACVI and BSE accredited in adult transthoracic echocardiography, as well as certified in cardiac devices by IBHRE and EHRA. Cristiana has specialist interest in the diagnosis and management of heart failure, developments in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and the creation of tools to improve patient pathways. She is a STEM ambassador, with a passion for research, teaching and education. Cristiana also develops her practice at the Barts Heart Centre in London. Dan Augustine is a consultant cardiologist with subspecialty in cardiac imaging and sports cardiology. Dan qualified in 2002 from St Bartholomew's and the Royal London Medical School and completed his cardiology training in the South West of England. He has undertaken a cardiovascular imaging research fellowship at the University of Oxford (UK), leading to his MD degree. Dan is accredited in transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography and cardiac MRI. He has been heavily involved in the implementation of national echocardiography guidelines and is the author / editor of several national and international cardiology textbooks. Harald Becher finished his cardiology training at the University of Bonn, Germany and became Professor of Cardiac Ultrasound at Oxford University, and consultant cardiologist leading the echocardiography laboratory of the Oxford University Hospital. Since 2010 he is Professor of Medicine and the Heart and Stroke Foundation Chair for Cardiovascular Research at the University of Alberta, Canada. His clinical research group belongs to the leaders in the development of contrast echocardiography and its implementation into clinical practice. Harald has served on several committees for practice guidelines of the American Society of Echocardiography and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging.
