The long-awaited third edition of the successful text, Hearing Disorders is a collection of easy-to-read essays about the diagnosis, treatment and management of ear diseases and hearing disorders. Twenty-four free-standing chapters were written by a multidisciplinary group of authors, who are recognized experts in their respective areas.

This clinically oriented textbook is logically organized for use in a graduate course, though undergraduate students will also find various chapters to be of value in their understanding of the normal and disease processes of hearing. Students, clinicians, and professors will appreciate the programmed self-learning appendix which presents a programmed instruction course on the decibel.

The book is organized into five major sections including: (1) the anatomy and physiology of the hearing mechanism, (2) techniques used in the clinical evaluation of hearing disorders, including advanced audiologic techniques, medical laboratory tests and, radiologic imaging procedures, (3) specific chapters devoted to thorough, up-to-date discussions of nine common disorders of hearing and diseases of the ear, (4) vestibular evaluation and treatment of patients with severe dizziness, and (5) the management of specialized patients, including those with tinnitus, hearing aids, and/or cochlear implants.

In Hearing Disorders, 3/e the author has brought together health care professionals and basic scientists who provide new information for readers at all levels of expertise. This book will often be the easiest reference source for audiologists, educators, physicians, persons with hearing loss, parents of hearing-handicapped children and hearing-aid dispensers alike.
