Professor Cate Whittlesea is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at UCL School of Pharmacy. Cate has been on the book since the fourth edition. Cate's research has focused on medication safety and evaluation of the community pharmacists' role in public health. As part of her teaching she is leading the 5 year integrated MPharm course as well as supporting the Foundation School on their development of postgraduate courses to meet the emerging roles for pharmacists. Cate has extensive experience in curriculum design having developed the Independent Prescribing Course at King's College London and the clinical skills theme integrated into all fur years of the MPharm at Durham University. She has supported the accreditation of the Clinically Enhanced Pharmacist Independent Prescribing course at UCL. Cate has contributed to the development of competency frameworks for prescribers in the UK. Dr Karen Hodson is a Senior Lecturer and Director MSc in Clinical Pharmacy and Director for Non-medical Prescribing at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Cardiff University. Karen is the Director for the MSc in Clinical Pharmacy which is a programme to develop pharmacists for their role as a hospital pharmacist. Part of her role involves ensuring the strategic direction of the programme is in line with changes within the National Health Service. Karen is also the director for a sister course in the same topic for the School of Nursing and Midwifery Studies. Karen was also a co-author on the 6th edition.
