The focus of this text is on the clinical evaluation of patients with orbital disease. It begins with normal and pathologic anatomy and correlates palin films, CT and MRI scans. It then looks at specific clinical entities, medical and surgical therapies and anatomic considerations.
Early symptoms of orbital disease may bring patients to their ophthalmologist, otolaryngologist, neurologist, internist or even dentist. Proper and expeditious diagnosis and management of these conditions is facilitated by an understanding of orbital anatomy and pathology. Prompt recognition of the underlying disease process will often have direct bearing on the overall outcome. Unfortunately, complex anatomic relationships, a paucity of diagnostic signs and symptoms, and a wide array of potential pathologic processes all combine to handicap those who attempt to acquire the expertise necessary to provide capable patient evaluation and care. The goal of this book is to provide a framework for the student and practitioner to construct their own reasoned approach to the diseased orbit by utilizing diagnostic skills in concert with appropriate imaging studies when necessary. It is directed toward sensitizing practitioners to the protean manifestations of orbital disease. The text includes: detailed normal and pathologic anatomy in correlation with plain films, CT, and MRI scans; chapters on specific clinical entities; and therapeutic implications of orbital disease.

Part 1 The patient with orbital disease; orbital anatomy - a basis of disease presentation and evaluation; orbital imaging - a practical approach. Part 2 Imaging and analysis of the patient with orbital disease - orbital trauma; thyroid eye disease; inflammations; tumours; orbital complications of paranasal sinus disease; neurosurgical aspects of orbital disease; orbital lacrimal system disorders; craniofacial anomalies. Part 3 Therapeutic implications of orbital imaging: therapy.
