This volume aims to provide a comprehensive reference for those who see, treat and support the elderly in their homes and the community - GPs, district nurses, occupational and physio-therapists, health visitors and social workers. In this second edition there are a number of new chapters, including ones on the objectives of geriatric medicine, on its ethical dilemmas, on the ageing mind and its effects on family members and general practitioners and on how to organize an effective service. Another new feature is an emphasis on providing GP trainers with ideas for exercises, to conduct with their trainees, to help making them aware of the subtleties and complexities of geriatric medicine in general practice.
