Brain injury rehabilitation has experienced many changes in its short history. This book is an attempt to correct the imbalance between the many texts about cognitive rehabilitation and the few systematic studies evaluating the effect of cognitive rehabilitation.
This book outlines the current status and applications of cognitive rehabilitation, a major component of brain injury rehabilitation. Each chapter describes the theoretical rationale underlying the clinical procedures used to improve cognition. Following the introduction, a group of contributors cover the areas of attention disorders, memory disorders, reasoning and problem solving abilities, and behaviour disorders.

Part 1 Introduction: towards a model of cognitive rehabilitation, Rodger L. Wood. Part 2 Rehabilitation of attention disorders: the remediation of attentional disorders following brain injury of acute onset, John M. Gray; the use of computers in the rehabilitation of attention disorders, Jennie Ponsford; the management of acquired attention and memory deficits, Catherine A. Mateer et al. Part 3 Rehabilitation of memory disorders: the process diary concept - an approach in training orientation, memory and behavioural control, Arnstein Finset and Sverre Andresen; memory strategies for closed head injured patients - do lessons in psychology help?, Betto G. Deelman et al.
