Dr George Biro worked in general practice, anaesthetics, public health and hospital administration before leaving medicine in 1990 to become a freelance writer. He writes for Australian Doctor magazine and Medical Observer and his special interest is the history of medicine. Dr James Leavesley is a regular contributor to ABC radio and a columnist for Australian Doctor. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1993 for 'services to medicine in general and medical history in particular'
