From C to Java

Java has moved beyond the hype and confines of the Web to become a complete software development language in its own right. Many software engineers are moving from older languages such as C and C++ and making Java their language of choice. This work is aimed at those developers who have experience with building software systems in C, but not necessarily in C++, and who wish to make the transition to Java. The book begins with an introduction to Java and how it differs from other languages. Each subsequent chapter deals with a particular aspect of developing Java systems, covering topics from user interfaces to threads and network programming.
