The rhythm of the entries creates a calming flow. Paula delivers many gems of inspiration, exploring the topic of quietude from many different directions. Delving into this book is a sensory experience, one you'd like to stay in for a while longer, or come back to it again and again.' - Writer's Digest

From Brazilian-born Canadian artist and author Paula Negraes comes a unique anthology of 92 inspiring free-verse poems and pairing paintings for each day of spring, celebrating awakening and quietude. Inspired by divine contemplation, Paula uses complex metaphors and allegory to help readers understand the unknowable at a higher level of consciousness. Due to her unique play with words and meanings, some readers may find her writings confusing and inexplicable while others may find them enlightening and spiritually progressive, to say the least. To grasp her beatitude, one needs to hold loosely to their concrete reasoning and soak into her poems with an intentional focus on the vastness of the quiet unknown.

After a long winter, joy arrives in the arms of the sun and melting of frozen ground. Spring brings the dissolution of dormancy by jets of light and pleasant heat, while allowing nature to fully express its vigorous colours in a harmonious way. Spring burst in contentment enwrapping all in garlands of flowers and scented twigs. The soul rejuvenates in the Great Breeze and a Supreme Gift is offered to those who encounter the sweet nectar of quietude.

In the passage from Spring Ephemerals, woodland wildflowers understand the transient nature of their growth. In Lasting Carnations, carnation flowers seal their colours and fragrance with the Supreme Gift, breaking with quietude the chain of invaders responsible for vital deterioration. Paula writes about honeybees building prosperity, quiet trees understanding the seasons without pessimism, animals finding stillness, and gardens bursting with quiet life amidst the commotion of their growth.
