Few
jewellers are as widely known as Cartier, even fewer have instantly
recognisable designs - many of which, such as the tank watch and trinity ring, have
become iconic. Glamorous, witty, beautiful, and beloved of stars from Elizabeth
Taylor to Grace Kelly, this book features over 150 dazzling Cartier items.
Published in association with Cartier, it presents jewels from superlative collections
including the V&A, the Royal Collection and the Smithsonian, as well as
Cartier's own private archive, and it celebrates the history of the company King
Edward VII called the 'Jeweller of Kings and King of Jewellers.'
Helen Molesworth spent ten years as a jewellery specialist for Sotheby's and Christie's auction houses in London and Geneva, before joining Gubelin as Managing Director to create and run the coloured gemstone Academy. She is now Senior Curator of Jewellery at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Rachel Garrahan is Project Curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Before that she was the award-winning Jewellery and Watch Director at British Vogue. She is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, and has written widely on luxury, art and culture for a broad range of publications.
