Marcella Sirhandi is an art historian whose doctoral thesis on Abdur Rahman Chughtai—the National Artist of Pakistan—reflects her focus on contemporary South Asian art history. Research awards from Fulbright, the American Institute of Pakistan Studies and the American Institute of Indian Studies supported her publications that feature the artists Mohan Samant, Antonio Xavier Trindade, Jamini Roy, and Lubna Agha and surveys including South Asian Modern Masters, Modern Indian Works on Paper and Royal Nepal Through the Lens of R.G. Matzene. Sirhandi retired as Professor Emerita from Oklahoma State University, USA, in 2010, and continues to publish and present new research at national and international conferences. She participates as a thesis reader for American and Pakistani universities and is the Asian art consultant for Whittaker Fine Arts Appraisals in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
