A delightful insight into the unexpected interiors of a fascinating city.
Paris, the celebrated home of elegant salons, has long fascinated the onlooker. This volume paints a unique portrait of the city, documenting over a hundred of its overwhelming historic interiors. From the opulent staircases of the Second Empire Opéra to the rational, unyielding lines of Le Corbusier's Villa Roche, the diverse ages and styles of Parisian architecture are uncovered.
Both author and photographer look at each interior with a fresh eye: whether it be a traditional boulangerie, a Belle Epoque brasserie or an aristocratic town house. Each picture is accompanied by a short text detailing what is especially of architectural or decorative interest as well as something of the history of the interior. This user-friendly book comprises an endlessly mesmerizing and fascinating look at the varied interiors - both well and lesser known - of the famous French capital.
