Ron Emmons is a British travel writer and photographer based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He has visited Vietnam regularly since 1995, and his work updating guidebooks for National Geographic, Frommer's, Rough Guides and DK Eyewitness has taken him to every corner of the country. He particularly enjoys exploring the lesser-known regions such as the Northern Mountains, the Central Highlands and the back roads of the Mekong Delta, although he's just as happy to settle down in Hanoi with locals to slurp down a bowl of pho or sup a glass of bia hoi.
