The area encompassing Northern and Eastern Europe, as well as Central and Northern Asia, politically includes the following countries today, although these classifications may vary due to different perspectives:
Northern Europe: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
Eastern Europe: Bulgaria, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, parts of Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Belarus.
Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and parts of Iran.
Northern Asia: the Asian part of Russia, Mongolia, and parts of northern China.
The various peoples and cultures of these regions have shifted significantly over the millennia, which is mentioned in the individual chapters and also includes adjacent border areas.
The book aims to untangle the many cultural overlaps, mutual influences, distributions, origins, and disappearances over the last 20,000 years, presenting them in a way that does justice to the use of bow and arrow as hunting and warfare tools in this geographically vast area.
After a timeline, the prehistoric findings are processed. This is followed by the comprehensive works of Adler, Litwinski, and Medvedev, which are not to be fragmented throughout the book but will form the general, cross-cultural section. Following this, the dominant cultures in chronological order will be discussed in the specific, culture-specific section, and finally, the ethnic groups in the expanses of Siberia/Northern Asia.
Some of these ethnic groups are already mentioned in Adler's work and will be additionally elaborated upon.
