A History of Haitian Literature

Marlene L. Daut is a professor of French and African American Studies at Yale University, and the author of Awakening the Ashes: An Intellectual History of the Haitian Revolution (University of North Carolina Press, 2023) and Baron de Vastey and the Origins of Black Atlantic Humanism (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017), co-winner of the 2018 Avant-Garde Book Prize from the Haitian Studies Association.

Kaiama L. Glover is a professor of African American Studies and French at Yale University. She is the author of A Regarded Self: Caribbean Womanhood and the Ethics of Disorderly Being (2021) and Haiti Unbound: A Spiralist Challenge to the Postcolonial Canon (2010). She is the founding co-editor of archipelagos a journal of Caribbean digital praxis, and a prize-winning translator of Haitian prose fiction.
