Albert Gallatin Mackey (1807–1881) was a prolific American author, physician, and Freemason, highly regarded for his contributions to Masonic scholarship. Born on March 12, 1807, in Charleston, South Carolina, Mackey showed an early interest in the arts and sciences. He completed his medical degree at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the University of the State of New York in 1830 and practiced medicine before committing his life to Freemasonry.
