Information Technology in Medical Diagnostics III
Routledge (Verlag)
978-0-367-76586-6 (ISBN)
The science of biomedical measurements is experiencing a period of rapid development. Biomedical measuring systems are becoming increasingly accurate on the one hand and complex on the other. In order to make progress in this field, metrological problems must be solved using a systemic and formal approach. To this end, it is necessary to define the components of the system and the rules for their interaction, which allows the creation of a mathematical model. In this way, any technology or object can be presented in the form of a structure on which the necessary estimates can be formulated and synthesis, including metrological one, can be made. The authors have observed that despite the significance of the problem, few scientific centres deal with this issue in a generalised manner. Hence the idea of bringing together the achievements of the centres from Russia, Poland and Kazakhstan in one joint publication.
The first and second volumes of Information Technology in Medical Diagnostics found readers not only in Poland, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan but also Spain, Russia and the Czech Republic. Following the readers’ suggestions, in the third volume of ITMD we returned to the formula of closed chapters known from volume one. Due to its limited volume, the book deals with the aforementioned issues in only selected areas of biomedical engineering.
The book will be of interest not only for academics and engineers but also for professionals involved in biomedical engineering, seeking solutions for the problems that cannot be solved using "traditional" technologies or trying to improve existing measurement systems.
Waldemar Wójcik (DSc. Eng. Professor) was born in Poland, 1949. He is Director of the Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, former long-time dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Lublin University of Technology. Doctor Honoris Causa of seven universities in Ukraine and Kazakhstan. He obtained his Ph. D. in 1985 at the Lublin University of Technology, and D. Sc. in 2002 at the National University Lviv Polytechnic, Ukraine. In 2009 he obtained a title of professor granted by the President of Poland. In his research he mainly deals with process control, optoelectronics, digital data analysis and also heat processes or solid state physics. Particular attention is paid to the use optoelectronic technology in the monitoring and diagnostics of thermal processes. He is a member of Optoelectronics Section of the Committee of Electronics and Telecommunications of the Polish Academy of Sciences; Metrology Section of the Committee of Metrology and Scientific Equipment of the Polish Academy of Sciences and many other scientific organisations of Poland as well as Europe and Asia. In total, he has published over 60 books, over 400 papers, and authored several patents. He is also a member of the editorial board of numerous international and national scientific and technical journals. Saygid Uvaysov (DSc. Eng. Professor) graduated in automation and telemechanics from the Dagestan Polytechnic Institute in 1981. In 1992 he obtains a PhD at Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics, then DSc. in 2000. In 2002 he obtains an academic title of professor. During his career he received many government and professional prizes. He currently works at MIREA – Russian Technological University as the head of the Chair of Design and Production of Radio-electronic Devices. His scientific interests mainly focus on electronics and system engineering, radio engineering, radiolocation, radio navigation and telecommunications, informatics, computer science, technical diagnostics and information-measuring systems. Author of more than 300 publications in this research area. Andrzej Smolarz (PhD. DSc. Eng.) graduated from Lublin University of Technology Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1989. During 30 years of professional work he has reached the position of a university professor at his Alma Mater in the Institute of Electronics and Information Technology. He has also worked as a Research Fellow at The Laboratory of Research in Fluid Dynamics and Combustion Technologies (LIFTEC by its Spanish acronym) a joint center between the Spanish Scientific Research Council (CSIC) and University of Zaragoza. His research field of interest covers wide variety of optical methods in industrial diagnostics and control as well as applications of artificial intelligence methods in industrial and medical diagnostics. Author of more than 100 publications in this research area.
