Prof. Ir. Dr. Lariyah Mohd Sidek is a Professor at the Civil Engineering Department and Head of the Sustainable Technology and Environment Group (STEG) & Strategic Planning, at the Institute of Energy Infrastructure (IEI), UNITEN. She received her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Kyoto University, Japan; M.Sc. in Hydrology Engineering from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom; and B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from University of Pittsburgh, USA. She has been actively involved in numerous research projects and consultancy services in the area of hydrotechnical, dam safety, hydrodynamic modeling, dam break analysis, reservoir sedimentation and flood forecasting. Currently, she is a President of Malaysian National Committee on Large Dams (MYCOLD), Executive Member of the Malaysian Hydrological Society (MHS) and Executive Member of Water Resources Technical Division, Institution of Engineers Malaysia. She has authored and co-authored over 300 articles in various journals, bookchapters and proceedings, and has received more than 30 national and international awards related to water research, hydrology and hydrotechnical design and invention. Dr. Gasim Hayder is a senior lecturer at the Civil Engineering Department, College of Engineering, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), where he has been a faculty member since 2013. He teaches, conducts research and provides short courses and consultancy services to industry, especially in the field of water and wastewater treatment, assessment and monitoring. He also served as Head of Unit at the Institute of Energy Infrastructure (IEI); Head of Water & Environmental Engineering Unit at the Department of Civil Engineering; senior researcher for Sustainable Engineering Group UNITEN. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia; M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia; and B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Omdurman Islamic University, Sudan. He is also MIET Chartered Engineer (CEng) from the Engineering Council (UK). He has extensive practical engineering, teaching and management experience. He has written several publications, filed patents and copyrights and has received national and international awards. Dr. Mohd Hariffin has a Master’s in Electricity Production and a Ph.D. in Fuel and Energy from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. Prior to his appointment as General Manager in Generation & Environment, he was the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Director of Research Management Centre at Universiti Tenaga Nasional. Dr. Hariffin has more than 28 years of experience in various fields of the electricity supply industry, including fuel handling & management, power plant operation, education & training, and research & development. He is currently leading various high-impact and breakthrough R&D projects at TNB Research, particularly in the areas of low-carbon power generation and green technology. Dr. Harifin is an active member of the Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) Industry Advisory Panel for both Bachelor and Master of Mechanical Engineering programs. He is also a member of the Research Expert Panel, Workshop for Mission Oriented Research (MOR) – Hybrid Energy System for Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.
