Propagation Engineering in Wireless Communications (eBook)
XVII, 458 Seiten
Springer International Publishing (Verlag)
978-3-319-32783-9 (ISBN)
This book covers the basic principles for understanding radio wave propagation for common frequency bands used in radio-communications. This includes achievements and developments in propagation models for wireless communication. This book is intended to bridge the gap between the theoretical calculations and approaches to the applied procedures needed for radio links design in a proper manner. The authors emphasize propagation engineering by giving fundamental information and explain the use of basic principles together with technical achievements. This new edition includes additional information on radio wave propagation in guided media and technical issues for fiber optics cable networks with several examples and problems. This book also includes a solution manual - with 90 solved examples distributed throughout the chapters - and 158 problems including practical values and assumptions.
Abdollah Ghasemi is Managing Director, Tarhe Ertebatat Telecom Consultants
Dr. A. Ghasemi was born in 1948 in Tehran. He received BSc degree in electrical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, MSc degree in radio telecommunications and DBA degree in management. He is the co-founder and CEO of Tarhe Ertebatat Consulting (TEC) company where he manages the planning and design of telecommunications systems including fixed and mobile radio networks, satellite links, radar systems, and fiber optics networks. He had an active role in the basic and detailed design of about 60 projects for radio networks, among more than 100 projects for private and industrial sectors especially in oil and gas industries. He has arranged a number of technical seminars for students and engineers on various topics related to radio systems.
Dr. Ghasemi is the author of 3 books in advanced and engineering mathematics and 11 technical books in different branches of radio systems. Four of his books have been published by Amir Kabir University of Technology in Iran as reference and textbooks, and two of his books have been published and internationally distributed by Springer.
Ali Abedi is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Cooperating Professor of Computing and Information Sciences atthe University of Maine. He is founding Director of WiSe-Net Lab which is a leading research center in Wireless Sensor Networks. He has been Visiting Associate Professor at University of Maryland and Guest Researcher at NIST in 2012-13, Adjunct Faculty at Queen's University in 2004-5 and lecturer at University of Waterloo during his final year of Doctoral studies.
Farshid Ghasemi is a Senior Scientist at 4Catalyzer where he works on the commercialization of nano-biophotonic sensors for healthcare and biotechnology industries. He has been a design engineer at TarheErtebatat in 2008, developing site selection software packages for weather surveillance radars for Iran meteorological organization. During his PhD research at Georgia Institute of Technology, he worked on accurate referencing methods for resonance-based integrated sensors in silicon nitride platform.
