Energy Technologies

Energy is a substantial factor influencing the future development of our society. Strongly increasing demand, volatile prices with a tendency to rise over the next years, severe impacts on the environment, energy security energy issues are high on the political agenda. But energy consumption is closely linked to individual behaviour, and development and dissemination of new technologies requires the acceptance of the public. Thus it is essential to understand people s knowledge, attitudes and perceptions of energy matters in general and of energy technologies in particular. This Eurobarometer survey, covering all 25 EU Member Countries, provides an interesting picture of citizens views on this topic. Although energy is not ranked as the top priority issue, people nevertheless are aware of the challenges ahead.
