Melanie Keel is an associate professor in the Department of Education at Wingate University. She holds a Ph.D. in language and literacy and Ed.S. in teaching from the University of South Carolina, as well as an M.A. in special education, including a cross categorical/reading certification, from Appalachian State University. Dr. Keel's research interests include children's and young adult literature, including graphic novels, pre-service teacher education, and culturally responsive pedagogy including English learners.
