Part of a series of texts for support workers who wish to obtain the new National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs). It covers the skills and standards ('competences') required by health and social care workers to obtain an NVQ / SVQ in a given topic. This workbook emphasises clients' needs to maximize their abilities so they can live as independently as possible within the community. It identifies activities of daily living with which the client will require help to be self-sufficient and the role of the support worker in providing the help required.
