Seventy-Five Seasons

Bob Arnott began skiing at Hotel Kosciusko with a party from Cranbrook School in 1935. He has had a distinguished skiing career both as a racer and as an official. He competed in the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952, was Australian slalom champion in 1953, and captained the Australian inter-dominion team to New Zealand in the same year. He went on to represent Australia on the International Ski Federation for 27 years, co-authoring the 'Bob rule' for ranking international alpine competitors with Bob Beattie of the USA. Bob joined the Ski Club of Australia in 1950 and has participated in many of the events of which he writes. At the age of 75, he is still known as 'Rubberlegs' and is SCA's 'secret weapon' in the annual Thredbo Interclub Races.
