Designed to appeal to walkers of all ages and abilities, this handy volume offers 30 circuits of between three and thirteen miles in a varied and often exciting landscape. The highest peaks of the central Beacons, the waterfall country to the west, gentle strolls along the tow-path of the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal, the extinct volcano of the Sugar Loaf and the long striding ridges of the Black Mountains are all featured. The wide choice of routes ensures that a day's outing can be selected to suit the weather and season. The walks are fully described with separate introductions to each area and are fully illustrated by the author's own photographs. Each walk includes a sketch map, interesting local background and advice for newcomers to hill walking.

David Hunter has been a regular contributor to walking and other magazines for many years with his features covering a wide area of Britain. Previous publications include a guide to the Shropshire Hills, a collection of walks exploring the countryside of the River Severn, guides to the 112 mile Wye Valley Walk and the Offa's Dyke Path National Trail. He and his wife, Vera, who has provided the sketch maps, are also keen photographers and contributors of countryside and heritage subjects to photographic libraries and magazines.
