A multi-author book to help athletes, coaches, lawyers, doctors, sports administrators and officials get to grips with a complex and explosive topic. Also ideal for undergraduates on a range of courses, it is a collection of pieces, often controversial, from some of the finest minds in the field.
Drugs In Sport is a multi-author title designed to help athletes, coaches, lawyers, doctors and sports officials get to grips with a complex and sometimes explosive topic. Also ideal for undergraduates on a wide range of courses - eg law, sports science, sports coaching, sociology, pharmacology and criminology - it is a collection of pieces, some controversial and not all in agreement, by the leading minds in the field. Beginning with a preface by Dick Pound, controversial ex-head of the World Anti-Doping Agency, the book also includes chapters by: the late Wilf Paish; Linford Christie and Dwain Chambers; Professor Julian Savalescu of Oxford University; Michele Verroken, the former Director of Ethics at UK Sport; and Tony Fitton, who was once a prolific supplier of drugs to athletes. The result is a unique book that is academically sound and hugely informative, as well as wide-ranging and refreshingly open. A must-read for everyone interested in this important subject.
