When the scenery out the car window is breathtaking, drivers and their passengers want maximum gaze time. Our popular road guide features contiguous text and maps that visitors can follow as they drive along. Its efficient design eliminates having to flip back and forth between maps and text while counting odometer mileage--a major frustration with other road guides. This indispensable book tracks the major roads within Rocky Mountain National Park and provides detailed topographical maps that point out where to look for wildlife, geological formations, and historical sites. Also included are locations for camping, fishing, and boating.
This road guide not only helps visitors find their way around but also makes the trip richer, more interesting, and more enjoyable. Discover these roadside wonders:
- Towering mountains--Longs Peak, Mount Meeker, and 100 other named peaks over 10,000 feet
- A profusion of animals, including Shadow Mountain Lake's osprey, Sheep Lakes's bighorn sheep, Chasm Falls's water ouzels, Moraine Park's elk, and Kawuneeche Valley's coyotes, mule deer, and moose
- Fascinating history at MacGregor Ranch, the Stanley Hotel, the site of the 1880 Lulu City settlement, and Ute Trail, which was once an ancient footpath across the tundra
- The stunning beauty of Rainbow Curve, Forest Canyon Overlook, and Grand Lake Lodge Vista
