Describes 44 circular tours, from the moors around Simonsbath to the wild coastline of the Bristol Channel. This work features ancient Dunster, romantic Badgworthy Water with its echoes of Lorna Doone, and Watersmeet. It also includes the Quantocks.
Exmoor is one of our smallest National Parks but one not lacking in variety and interest. From the moors around Simonsbath to the wild coastline of the Bristol Channel it is a place to explore. Here is ancient Dunster, romantic Badgworthy Water with its echoes of Lorna Doone, and the ever-popular Watersmeet. The often neglected Quantocks are also included in this guide. The walking is less strenuous than on Dartmoor and is suitable for all the family. 44 circular tours are described. Each walk is graded by length and difficulty of terrain, the climbing involved and the map reading and navigation skills needed. The author has grouped the walks into four areas of Exmoor with the Brendons and the Quantocks as two other additional sections: The North-west Moor, The North-east Moor, The Southern Moor, The Brendons, The North Coast and The Quantocks. The main roads are used as the boundaries.

John Earle is author of "Walking on Dartmoor" and "Exmoor and the Quantocks" (Cicerone). He is an experienced expedition mountaineer, TV film- maker and trek- leader. He now runs a successful outdoor education centre and is well known for his films, many about Cornwall and his appearances on TV.
