JOURNEY THROUGH YORKSHIRE

Jarrold Publishing is proud to present four new titles for spring 2001. The new Journey Through series will include - Yorkshire, The Peak District, The Scottish Borders and The Scottish Highlands and Islands. A Journey Through Yorkshire features superb colour photography of the Yorkshire scenery that stretches from the Dales to the North Sea coast and includes both the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors national parks. Yorkshire contains some of the most attractive countryside in Britain. The distinctive feature of the Dales is its magnificent limestone landscape, but it also contains high, exposed moorlands. The valleys on the other hand present a striking contrast with small woods, riverside meadows and neat green fields separated by miles of drystone walls, doted with exquisite villages. To the east, the North York Moors also contains many attractive and unspoilt villages. Market towns nestle near the foot of this moorland massif with its heathery expanses and green dales, and coastal towns and resorts have attracted admiring visitors for centuries.
Further south along the Pennines, lying between the Yorkshire Dales to the north and the Peak District to the south, sweeping moors, steep valleys and a fascinating industrial past attract an increasing number of visitors. Each photograph will be accompanied by an informative extended caption that details the historical and geographical significance of the subject featured, creating a perfect introduction to and souvenir of this special area. As with the three other titles in this series, this book has been designed in a fresh, imaginative and appealing manner with full-colour photography and an attractive colour map marking all the places photographed.
