3D printing came into existence in the early 1980s as additive manufacturing and, over the years, the technology has grown by leaps and bounds. Dinesh Bhatia received his PhD in Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Engineering from MNNIT, India, in 2010, and is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at North Eastern Hill University, India. He is the author of the books Medical Informatics (2015), Current Aspects in Stroke Rehabilitation (2016), Smart Healthcare Monitoring for Disease Diagnosis (2020), And Modern Technological Intervention Advancements for the Physically Challenged and Disabled Population (2021), in addition to 25 book chapters and more than 275 journal articles. He has several patents, copyrights and designs to his name. His research focuses on understanding muscle mechanics, joint kinematics and dynamics involved in performing locomotion and routine tasks and undermining their effects during an injury or disease.
